Overview
Nabq Bay is a 10 minutes drive from Sharm International Airport, this place is a city within the city. It has several advantages over the rest of the town. The beach formation at Nabq is different, as it consists of a 1 km shallow ankle-high water, followed by a sharp drop off. National Park of Nabq is a beautifully plush area, brimming with life right in the middle of the desert, the region of Nabq has been announced as a protected spot in 1992, and has been made part of the Ras Mohamed National Park’s territory.
Nabq Bay is on a promontory overlooking the Straits of Tiran at the mouth of the Gulf of Aqaba. Sharm el-Sheikh city has been subdivided into five areas, namely Nabq Bay, Ras Nasrani, Naama Bay, Umm Sid, and Sharm El Maya. Together with Hay el Nour, Hadaba, Rowaysat, Montazah and Shark’s Bay, it forms a metropolitan area of 42 square kilometres.
Nabq is the less crowded area of Sharm el Sheikh, consisting mainly of hotels and beaches where you can swim surrounded by fish or dive off the coral reef. A quiet area with good views over to Tiran Island. This is a long way from Na’ama Bay though, at least half an hour drive. Not really suitable for divers, due to its distance from the dive centres.
Al Khan Mall
Opposite Laguna Vista Resort, Nabq Bay, Sharm. Al Khan, is an outdoor shopping area. If you’re bored with the usual hangouts in Sharm, head out to Nabq Bay, destination Al Khan mall. An outdoor shopping area, Al Khan is a long alleyway with two-storey high bungalows with hatched roofs lined up on both sides creating a nice exotic ambiance. Al Khan offers a variety of stores; Billabong, Quiksilver and Guess are just a few of the names available there, not to mention cozy little cafés such as L’Aroma and Nespresso, the famous Salsa juice bar where you can have a fresh cold fruit juice cocktail and a shisha. And that’s just naming a few things you can do at Al Khan. So take your family to Al Khan for a chilled out afternoon of shopping and you’re in for a good time. Al Khan described by the rep at the welcome meeting as the Egyptian Mall and La Strada described by the rep as the more Eurpopean Mall. With a number of international brands, coffee shops as well as business offices and an upcoming hypermarket across the street. La Strada
La Strada is the new entertainment center of Nabq Bay, Sharm El Sheikh’s new hot spot. Nabq Bay is developing into a resort town of its own, quickly becoming the first choice of tourists coming to Sharm El Sheikh. With its luxurious resorts and vast sandy beaches overlooking the Tiran Island, Nabq Bay has 5,000 hotel rooms soon to grow to as much as 27,000 rooms within the next few years.
Oriental Resorts for Touristic development has created La Strada to cater to people of all ages. An open-air affair with spacious walkways featuring shops, restaurants and sizzling night life. Not only the place to shop, but also to mix, mingle, dine, hear music and enjoy the attractive outdoor areas.
Its location being in the center of Nabq Bay and a short walk from all the major resorts of the area has made La Strada the town center of the Nabq coastline. With its unique architecture emphasizing convenience and entertainment, people will visit more often and stay longer.
A five minute bus ride from the complex takes you to a local shopping mall with a Metro supermarket as well as bars, off licences, restaurants and independent stores. The night-life hub of Naama Bay is 20 minutes and 30p away by local bus. It has a bewildering choice of restaurants, bars, casinos, clubs and shops. A short ride further is Old Sharm, known as the Old Market, which has superb fish restaurants such as Fares and is a good place for skilled hagglers to pick up bargains.
